Jessica Kept in Separate Cell to Avoid being Bullied by Cellmates

Liputan6.com, Jakarta It has been three days following Jessica Kumala Wongso’s official arrest which was conducted in the early hours of January 30 2016 by Jakarta police over strong allegations of her involvement in the murder of 27-year-old Wayan Mirna Salihin.

Director in Jakarta police department who manages convicts and evidence gathered, Barnabas informs how Jessica is now being detained in a separate cell from others. This does mean however, that she is given a more superior privilege better than others. He confirms that she is just placed within a different cell to help her concentrate on her case without any likely disturbance from others or cellmates.

“Her cell is separated from others. Not because she is being treated in a more special way but she claims to be desiring an alone time for her to sort out her case in a more focused way,” Barnabas said, Tuesday (2/2/2016).

The separation of her from other detainees is also done in order to protect the well being and mental state of Jessica. The life inside prison is completely different to the life which Jessica indulges in for most part of her life.

“We are trying to keep her safe from possibility of being bullied by other cellmates. Maybe not physically bullied but it is possible to be verbally attacked. It is best to prevent her from being psychologically disturbed,” Barnabas explained.

“She is now detained in her own cell, with her own bathroom, and bed. Those would like to visit her have to put their name on the list for scheduling to be done for them. For family and attorneys, they will be allowed to, the rest is up to investigating officers,” he continued explaining.

Jessica Kumala Wongso, the name immediately gains notoriety following allegations of direct involvement into the death of 27-year-old Wayan Mirna Salihin whose Vietnamese coffee was reportedly cyanide on the evening of January 6 2016 at Olivier café in Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta.

Jessica who arrived earlier that day at the café, claimed that she had been ordering and paying the bills beforehand for two of her friends Mirna and Hanny as she claimed that she has been meaning to treat them. Mirna drank her coffee only to find her mouth foaming and the rest of her body stiffed-out before she finally bit the dust. As police investigation is underway, the lab report yielded by forensic immediately suggested that the coffee has been poisoned.

After days of intensive probing over the case, the results apparently led to the official arrest of Jessica Kumala Wongso this morning, January 30 2016 at Neo hotel room 822 where she had been staying last night prior to her capture.
