Governor Ahok Teaches Papua Students 'The Art of Dying'

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or commonly known as Ahok is visited by dozens of elementary, middle-school and high school students from ‘Sekolah Anak Indonesia’ foundations. The foundation/ school is located in Papua.

In front of these students, Ahok teaches them ‘The art of Dying Well’ which based on the premise that individuals should not be scared of death because it is a part of life. Ahok wants these students to not be frightened by death as it is a waste of time thinking about it.

"I want to let you know the art of dying well. For example, if today we’re so afraid of death, will that feeling lead us to death? Will that uncontrolled concern make us dead? Humans will die anyway, why are you so afraid about it? When you worry about your wasting your time which actually you can use to think about more important things and spend it with your loved ones," Ahok shared at the City Hall, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/03/2015).

He teaches these students to stay away from the notion of scared of death. Especially when the students have done mostly positive actions in life. When we do mostly positive things in life, there is nothing to be afraid of and thus our death will be a positive one and hopefully rewarded. Governor Ahok shares how he is not afraid of death and he wants himself to be an example or a role model to these children.

Governor Ahok further explains his function as Jakarta governor to facilitate the people with intelligence, secured life, employment and better welfare for those living in the Jakarta area.

"I don't mind being attacked by thousands of people from the Islamic Front group (FPI) and Jakarta house of Representatives (DPRD), I am not afraid of them, I am not and will never be. All that matters to me is the Jakarta people, I have te responsibility to make their lives a desirable one, so im focusing on that," Ahok continued.

So far, Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama has been challenged by problems coming from DPRD and FPI. (Akp/Tnt)
