Sukabumi Suspected to be the Breeding Ground for ISIS

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - As a notoriously known contingent, ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has frightened many nations of the possibility of the group expansion to other territories. In Indonesia, it is suspected that the widespread has reached the area of Sukabumi, West Java.

The radical group has just recently executed a number of people using inhumane method that led many into questioning whether or not the foundation of the group is really Islam. Because the religion itself promotes peace and prevents violence from ever occurring. It is reported that the area has been chosen as the safe haven or breeding ground for ISIS recruitment.

"From the data collected by our intelligence, there are a number of groups suspected to have been recruiting and spreading the teachings of ISIS in our territory. We continue to monitor them," The Commander of Sukabumi District Military Sarifudin said, Sukabumi, Monday (23/02/2015).

From the investigation, there areat least 3 peple who have been caught trying to leave the country and headed for Syria with a number of members of ISIS. They were stopped before their plan worked out. They lied as they claimed that they were heading for Malaysia to visit their families. In reality, Malaysia was just going to be a transit country before they head for Syria.

These people have already been the operation targets of Sukabumi Military district and every move has been monitored as to prevent them from imposing harm on others.

Sarifudin however, decides not to reveal the quantity of those possibly joining ISIS and the number of ISIS already captured. This to maintain confidentiality and also there are still many of them whose identities remain unknown, so clandestine mission is deemed important in this particular circumstance.

The moment the enemy knows its identity has been revealed, he or she will move around quickly and will not leave a trace which will further complicate the mission to capture them.

"These people are the targets for our operations. We have dispatched many intelligence personnel to areas susceptible for the widespread of such group," Sarifudin added.

As observed by the Sukabumi military district, the method used by ISIS is using mouth-to-mouth or lip service. This is an easy method used especially from those with low education background and have just recently converted to Islam.

Brainwashing was then done through mouth-to-mouth where the information given is immediately absorbed as an accurate knowledge. However, despite the rampant widespread, the intelligence personnel believe that it will not be as severe as anticipated as many people are now aware of the danger the barbaric group posed to the whole world.

Sarifudin said, whatever ISIS has done is not in line nor has relevancy to what has been taught in Alquran, it is not based on the teachings of Muhammad and Islam in general. They have been known and legitimately labelled as a terrorist group.

"We have coordinated with a number of other parties to help us prevent ISIS from spreading. This is done by persuading leaders of mosques to spread the true Islamic teaching, and raise their awareness of the harm ISIS posed," Sarifudin concluded. (Akp/Tnt)
