Finance Minister: RI Crude Palm Oil Could Attract Chin's Interest

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Indonesian Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro sought to make the nation’s crude palm oil an attractive one for China as it has been signaling desire to exploit less polluted method that could ultimately lessen the rate of pollution in that particular country.

According to Bambang, China is gradually becoming a nation that cares of its environment and therefore seeking ways to reduce usage of fossil fuel energy and resort to more environmentally friendly options available. This is where Indonesian crude palm oil can come into play and maximize its potential in the market.

“China is now paying more attention to its environment and to its condition. They went as far as closing up factories that are evidently harmful to the environment, reducing coal usage and therefore caused and equal reduction in coal supply request,” Minister Bambang explained amid Indonesian 2016 National Crude Palm Oil meeting at the Finance Ministry building, Wednesday (27/1/2016).

While it is true that Indonesian crude palm oil is being rejected in Europe, it does not lower the chances for it to be sold successfully in the Asian market with China as the number one potential target for such lucrative offer.

“We are hoping for biofuel exports to gain prominence in China even after it has been banned in Europe,” he further explained.

China in the eyes of Bambang, has a relatively high potential of being attracted to Indonesia’s crude palm oil as the number of people living in China and the number of mode of transportations operated within that region are relatively high and to maintain an atmosphere that is friendly to the environment, they will look at the possibility of using Indonesia’s crude palm oil.
