8 Aircrafts Sought for Evacuation of Trigana Air Crash Victims

Trigana Air ATR 42 bound for Oksibil from its initial airbase in Jayapura allegedly crashed in the mountaineous area on Sunday noon.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Another air crash tragedy has left the archipelago nation in despair. Trigana Air ATR 42 carrying as many as 49 passengers en route Jayapura- Oksibil, allegedly crashed into the area of Okbape district, one of the many regions in the mountainous area of Papua.

Such allegation remains a strong one following reports of the aircraft losing contact with the Air Traffic Controller on Sunday 16 August 2015 at around 14.55 pm.

Among 49 passengers, 5 were toddlers and babies. Cabin crew including its pilot, Captain Hasanudin, technician and two flight attendance counted as the victims from the alleged deadly crash.

Eight aircrafts have been deployed to evacuate victims and what was left of Trigana Air for the furtherance of investigation. Jayapura Airbase Commander, I Made Susila Adyana confirms the presence of 8 aircraft at Sentani and Oksibil airports as they sought to perform the evacuation process of Trigana Air victims.

Those aircrafts include: Philatus which belongs to Susi Air, Trigana owned Twin Otter and ATR, Caravan of AMA, Heli Bell from Airfast and Indonesian Ground Force's MI chopper.

"Hopefully the weather is friendly today so that it does not intervene in the evacuation process and such can be performed rapidly," Commander Adyana said, Tuesday (18/8/2015). (Akp/Tnt)
