Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) views the Indonesian popular gemstone as having the potentiality to excel in the international market.
With such realization, BPS insists for Trade Ministry to quickly initiate the diversification of Indonesian exported goods, especially its gemstone to other countries.

Responding to such demand, the General Director of Export Development from the Trade Ministry, Nus Nuzulia Ishak agrees that gemstone has the ability to achieve an international spotlight as some of Indonesian made jewellery have previously been successful in contributing to the increase of Indonesian export value from the non-oil and gas sector to Switzerland.
"Non-oil and gas export to Switzerland increased significantly to more than 1.800% from January through to May 2015. Silver is the one type of jewellery that contributed much to the increase of Indonesian export value. That is why I think gemstone can definitely make it in the international spectrum," Nuzulia said, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6/2015).
Nuzulia explained how jewellery export grew by 35% with its value reaching US$ 200 million. This is considered as a significant breakthrough as compared to last year’s export value during the same period which only reached US$ 50 thousand.
"The only thing we need to do to diversify Indonesian gemstone is to assure its authenticity by showing a legitimate certificate of it so that we can earn consumer's trust," Nuzulia concluded. (Akp/Ein)
