Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Indonesian Minister of Maritime and Fisheries Affairs (KKP), Susi Pudjiastuti commitment to combat vessels with no license that have confidently entered the Indonesian water and perform illegal fishing.

Many of illegal vessels have been demolished as a sign of Indonesia's seriousness in eliminating parties who wishes to gradually weaken the country’s sovereignty by being a thief in the maritime sector.

Liputan6.com correspondent was given the opportunity to board the supervisor vessel (KP) with the name Hiu Macan Tutul 02 which counts as one of the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries Affairs fleet stationed to secure the western part of Indonesian ocean from any illegal fishing attempt.

Illegal vessels that were not destroyed by KKP immediately detained at the base situated in Batam. The vessels are relatively big in size.

The size allows them to perform illegal fishing and carry as heavy as 10 tons of fish to their origin country.

"Right now, there are 6 vessels detained at the base. 2 belonging to Thailand and 4 from Vietnam. They were captured as soon Indonesia caught them performing illegal fishing in the territorial water of Natuna which bordered Indonesia to the South China Sea," Hiu Macan Tututl 02 ship Captain, Samuel Sandi informed on Friday 10 April 2015.

Samuel considers illegal fishing attempt as a planned act. The perpetrators know exactly which coordinate they have to set to anchor their vessel and fish.

Some of them even took the time to coordinate with other related vessels performing similar action to wait at certain point where they can meet and move the catch fish from one vessel to another so that no one would find out the things that they did in the first place. (Akp)
