Liputan6.com, Jakarta With only 3 to 4 days left for the major operation of AirAsia QZ8501 to be fully operated, authority intensifies the search for what is left from the aircraft. The National Committee of Transportation Safety investigator (KNKT) Ony Soeryo Wibowo said his team is targeting the mission to find cockpit cabin. This is primarily because the investigation can only be a thorough one if the cabin of the cockpit is found. The recently recovered black box is very important for the process of investigation. However, with the cabin of the cockpit found, the investigation can be done in a more detailed manner as to unravel the reasons behind the crash.

"We are targeting the cockpit, we want it to be found and investigated as soon as we have it," Ony said at Panglima Utar Kumai port, Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan, Tuesday (13/01/2015).

According to Ony, the cockpit is very important for the investigation as the investigators can examine and evaluate the severity of the crash based on the condition of the cockpit. Additionally, the cockpit cabin can also help investigators to reveal the recorded conversation between the pilot and co-pilot throughout the flight, and then they can compare it to the ones received from the recently recovered black box.

"All controlling instruments are in the cockpit area. For example, the speed controller, it is in the cockpit. From there, we can examine whether it moved by itself or it collided. We could also predict the severity of the collision impact for the plane to be broken into pieces. Afterwards, we will compare it again with the recorded conversations of the two pilots," Ony further explained.

The TNI Navy team has recovered AirAsia QZ8501 black box Flight Data Recorder (FDR) on Monday (12/01/2015). Following the recovery of black box FDR, the navy team sets their focus to search the aircraft’s CVR.

A number of objects were taken out of the ocean by the evacuation team and carried to KRI Banda Aceh to be investigated. Among the objects found, there was an object resembling to the black box CVR.

The discovery of this finding is confirmed by the head of Basarnas Bambang Soelistyo .

"There are several objects found and lifted out of the ocean, a lot of them resembling to black box CVR," he informed shortly after his meeting with the House of People’s Representatives Commission V, Jakarta, Tuesday (13/01/2015). (Akp/Ein)
