Liputan6.com, Jakarta Tuesday 18 November 2014, Ngurah Rai Airport Bali Security Officers detected a bomb inside anonymous black suitcase. Airport Security Officers resort to using a special Explosive Trace Detector (ETD) to confirm the status on the unknown ‘object’ inside the suitcase. After being carefully examined, it is positive that the bag contains explosives. The Security Officers then immediately contacted Bali Police Bomb Squad who responded very quickly.
Shortly after being reported, the Bali Police Bomb Squad arrived at the site and immediately sterilized the location whilst other authorities performed evacuation procedure. After sterilization, The Bomb Squad carefully carried the object to an open field where it will be blown. Prior to being detonated, the police deployed sniffer dogs to double- check the status of the ‘object’. Having proved the suitcase contains hazardous materials, fully clothed Bali Bomb Squad attempted to blow it. The package then exploded.

Denpasar Police Chief Djoko Utomo confirmed the discovery of the anonymous black suitcase containing explosive. Once safely detonated, the airport can operate normally again.
The bomb did not come from a terrorist group or such, nor it was a pejorative response of the recently increased fuel price (BBM). This is a simulation as part of an emergency response scenario in celebrating the event of 79th Dirgantara Raharja which was held this morning at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.
This emergency response exercise involves 742 personnel from various fields such as LPPNPI Housing, Immigration Offices Class I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Chief Port Heath Office, Bali Maritime Police, KPLP, navy, Air force, Indonesian Military in Australia, and a number of other agencies.
In addition to the bomb scenario, other scenarios were also made on that day. It included a scenario of Jalak Air Boeing 737 series 400 PK- JLX with the flight number of DPS 501 failed to land. 7 passengers reported dead.
The plane was hit by a Wind Down Draft which caused it to experience undershot and pilot was late in its response to recover at Slope Approach. The plane fell at a distance of 100 meters from runway number 09.
In addition to the already existing two scenarios, another scenario was the fire caused by short- circuiting at the International Departure Terminal gate number 5. The carefully made script involves using casualties; one with burn marks and the other one stops breathing. (Akp/Ein)
