Liputan6.com, Jakarta Development of scores infrastructure in Indonesia is currently underway. While the larger portion of the government placed their focus primarily on the pursuance of the nation’s maritime ambition, the leading airline company PT. Garuda Indonesia Tbk is said to have been contributing their part in the nation’s progress by constructing a hangar which has been claimed as the largest in the world. The hangar itself is capable of facilitating as many as 16 narrow- body planes all at once.

Indonesian Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Rini Soemarno said that the presence of globally- acclaimed biggest hangar owned by PT. Garuda Indonesia would take the country’s stance to a new height with unprecedented facility designed for airplane treatment.

“Our hangar is the biggest in the world. The hangar is not just a home to Garuda Maintenance Facility Aeroasia for overhaul and repair but also a facility which owns repairing tools necessitated for other international airlines from various countries,” Minister Rini stated during her visitation to the site on Monday 28 September 2015.

Minister Rini also hopes for the presence of such globally- acknowledged hangar could help Indonesia to become one of the leading roles in the worldwide aviation industry. Such prominent role would ultimately help the strengthening of Asia- Pacific region value in the next two decades.

“I am sure that we can be one of the key players in the aviation industry at both regional and global scale in the next 20 years,” she added. (Akp/Ein)
