Liputan6.com, Jakarta After days of exerting all energies and efforts to search and evacuate what was left from AirAsia QZ8501, Basarnas finally plans to put the mission into an end. Within the next 3 to 4 days, the mission will intensified and will be ended on the 4th day. The search around Karimata strait was a productive one, resulting with a number of discoveries including debris/objects belonging to the aircraft, deceased passengers and the recently recovered Flight Data Recorder (FDR). The intention to end the mission is put forth by the Head of Basarnas Bambang Soelistyo during the meeting (RDP) with Commision V of House of People’s Representatives (DPR).

"Perhaps in 3 to 4 days, our main operation will be put into an end. But we will continue a daily operation where I would be the leader of the mission," Soelistyo said at the DPR building, Tuesday (13/01/2015).

During the planned daily operations, there will be an alteration in the pattern of searching mission. This is one option that Basarnas chooses as in order to make the search and evacuation mission effective and quicker, there ought to be another methods used. Another option includes handing the mission over to Indonesian Armed Forces. That is, if Basarnas decides to put into an end on the daily operation as well.

Even with most of the objects deemed important recovered and that the mission is planned to be put to an end, Basarnas still welcomes other countries who want to voluntarily continue the daily operation with them.

‎Before officially announcing the cessation of AirAsia QZ8501 primary operation, Bambang Soelistyo will pay a visit to the families of the victims in Surabaya as to share what really happened throughout the operation. He is hoping for the families to accept the fact that the operation will be put into an end, and that their heart will be at peace.

"I want to come to the families first to let them know. This is to prevent them from being shocked after they hear the news on TV," Soelistyo concluded. (Akp/Riz)
