Liputan6.com, Jakarta MotoGP race is one among very popular sporting events that the nation looks forward to. It has been informed before that the event may be held at the international circuit in Sentul, Bogor, West Java from 2017 through to 2019.
Spokesman for Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports Gatot S. Dewa Broto however said that Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has instructed for the reconsideration of having the event held at Sentul.

One of the government’s major concerns lies on the very fact that the renovation price is considered as relatively expensive.
“President Jokowi told me to deliver his instruction regarding the reconsideration of having MotoGP event held in Sentul. This does not neccesarily mean that the event is cancelled. It is still on but President Jokowi would very much desire for it not to be held in Sentul due to heavy cost,”Gatot shared, Wednesday (27/1/2016).
It has been learned that Sentul is owned by private sector, not the government. Not to mention, the price for renovation which includes all the things necessitated for the events will cost around Rp 200 billion alone.
Sporting and Youth Ministry has offered two options, circuits in Palembang or West Java as the location for the event to take place.
“The one is West Java is a new circuit. The one in Palembang is also acceptable as it is owned by the nation, not private sector,” Gatot explained.
