Former political party prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi managed to won recent election.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Myanmar’s President Thein Sein said earlier today (15/11/2015), informs that due to the historically rare polls won of former political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi and her party whilst the successful conduction of a smooth transition of power have made it very likely for her and her party to be yielded responsibility to control the national reformation agenda.

"We will hand this process (of reform) on to a new government," said President Thein Sein as cited in Nationmultimedia.

He further explains that the remark he stated earlier should appease the worry and nerves over his country’s first attempt to implement a democratic style transition and leadership since decades of military ruling.

According to FrontierMyanmar.com, President Thein Sein, who was formerly a Junta General shared that ‘The winning party is responsible for carrying out its duty and other opposition parties should provide checks and balances. That is called democracy’.

Citing from Reuters, the recently elected Aung San Suu Kyi is said to have been firm in running the country regardless of who will be elected for Presidential seat.

"But that won't stop me from making all the decisions as the leader of the winning party."(Akp)
