Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono was officially appointed as the Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) for the 2025–2030 term during the organization’s 10th National Conference held in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. This appointment marks a new chapter in history, as it is the first time since the reform era that a high-ranking government official—at the level of deputy minister—has led the largest farmers' organization in Indonesia.
Sudaryono said that his leadership in HKTI would create a more integrated and efficient chain of command to support the President's strategic programs, particularly in achieving food self-sufficiency.

“I firmly believe that with the active participation of our colleagues in HKTI, coupled with the active role of the bureaucracy within the Ministry of Agriculture—including myself, entrusted as chairman while also serving as deputy minister—this will strengthen our forces,” Sudaryono stated.
According to him, with HKTI now united under one leadership, the organization—established in 1973—can enhance synergy among the Ministry of Agriculture, regional agricultural offices, and agricultural extension workers.
“This means added strength within a single chain of command—not divided commands. This is one leader, one policy, one directive, one circular letter,” he stressed.
Food Sovereignty
Sudaryono is also optimistic that this leadership integration will accelerate the achievement of food sovereignty, reduce dependence on imports, and even open up opportunities for exporting national agricultural products. He further emphasized that improving farmers' welfare would be a top priority in future programs.
During the national conference forum, Sudaryono also declared that the dualism in HKTI's leadership had come to an end. Both previously opposing sides have now agreed to unite.
“There will be no more dualism after this, God willing,” he asserted.
With this new mandate, HKTI is expected to become a collective force that supports national policies, while also advocating for the rights and welfare of farmers across Indonesia.
